Home

The Scott Hartman Library is a collection of books, periodicals and other educational resources on topics in health education and prevention, support groups and mental health, as well as equal rights education and legal services. The library also houses a large collection of books written by and about gays and lesbians, and other minority groups, focusing on the positive contributions they have made to our society in literature, science, the arts, and other areas.

Why is it called the "Scott Hartman Library"?

The librbary is named after Scott Hartman, M.D., who practices family medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Hartman works in family medical clinics serving the ethnic, inner-city population of chicago's south side. Many of his patients are without health insurance. Dr. Hartman also works in treating HIV/AIDS patients.

In additon to his work, Scott is a wonderful person. His kind, compassionate spirit, intelligence, and sense of humor are only some of the reasons so many people choose to have Scott as a friend. Scott is accepting of all people and, through his example, has taught others to see everyone as being equal and deserving of respect.
