Equal Rights Education and Legal Services

In 1982, Wisconsin became the first state to pass a statewide law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. The Safe Zone Foundation defends the rights of the LGBT community in the areas of employment, education and housing, and ensures equal representation and participation in local government, schools and other public institutions. The foundation further serves as an advocate to end discrimination and secure rights for all people in all areas of society, and works to end all forms of intolerance, harassment and exclusionism. The foundation protects the rights of free speech and expression, and supports the passing of additional anti-discrimination legislation, including anti-bias and hate crimes legislation. In addition, legal assistance is available, upon request, for any victim of harassment or discrimination.

The Safe Zone Foundation encourages all members of the LGBT community to become informed of those political issues that directly affect equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered individuals.

When we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, we conclude with the phrase, "with liberty and justice for all." All means everyone, no matter our differences in sexual orientation, race, gender, age, religion, disability or economic status.
